Secure Campus Update: 12:45pm

Posted Date: 04/23/26 (12:53 PM)

Sage Creek Families,

Sage Creek High School staff, in collaboration with Carlsbad Police and Fire Department, have just completed their final thorough check of our entire campus; the campus has been deemed safe and all students are now resuming their regularly scheduled activities.

Teachers, counselors, administrators, and other staff will be checking in with students throughout the day to provide support as needed. Counseling support for students and staff will be available should they need someone to talk with about this disturbing event.

Sage Creek High School and the Carlsbad Unified School District take this incident seriously and staff is collaborating with the Carlsbad Police Department to conduct a thorough investigation into this event. If you or your student has any information that may be of assistance in this investigation, please contact site administration in person or at (760) 331-6600 or the Carlsbad Police Department at (760) 931-2197. Anonymous tips may also be shared through the San Diego County Crime Stoppers website.

We want to remind students and families that under California Education Code, possession or use of an explosive on a school site is grounds for a mandatory recommendation for expulsion from school and is a felony offense under California Penal Code. We encourage families to speak about this incident with their students, both to ensure their emotional well-being and to remind them of the serious consequences related to these types of dangerous social media trends.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked through this incident today. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to any member of our administration team if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Josh Way, Ed.D

Principal
