AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a nationally recognized college readiness program (delivered via the elective class) designed to assist students, most underrepresented in the 4-year college system, work toward college acceptance. AVID students will become college and career ready by learning organizational and study skills, critical thinking and inquiry, receiving academic help from peers and college tutors, and participating in enrichment and motivational activities (such as guest speakers and university field trips). AVID students strive to become academically successful leaders and role models for other students. To remain in good standing, AVID students must maintain appropriate grades, behavior, and school attendance. Visit the AVID program website for more detailed information.
