Posted Date: 4/04/25 (8:16 PM)

Hello Sage Creek Parents,

Do you miss volunteering in your child’s classroom? Would you like to know more about the Sage Creek Genius Project? Do you just feel like being awesome and appreciated on April 25th?

If you have an underclassman, this is a great chance to hear what the project is all about! If you have an upperclassman, this is a great chance to support your Bobcat. You'll 💚being a Genius "Mentor-in-the-Room!"

The Genius Project Teacher Team would like to update and invite you to be a part of the winter trimester Mentor-in-the-Room opportunities for our junior and senior students. Our current seniors started their Genius Project in the fall of their junior year, giving them a bit more time on the project itself.  Our junior students are just beginning.

Information:

Here (click here) is more information about the Mentor-in-the-Room role.

What is my role as a Mentor-in-the-Room?:

✅ Simply be a listening ear to offer encouragement, problem-solving, or brainstorming in a student's Genius Project journey.

What if I only have an hour of free time?

✅ We will take any help we can get to support our Bobcats! Sign up for a half hour or even the whole day. We love strengthening the Community-Parent-Classroom Connection!

What does this day look like?:

✅ Generally, Mentor-in-the-Room volunteers introduce themselves at the beginning of class and their areas of knowledge (tech, science, writing, business, family, etc.) Then, they are seated on a panel in the back of the room where students may approach to get ideas, advice, guidance, or encouragement. This is mostly a "listening" job, and doesn’t require you to have a hugely successful business career. .. adults with any life experience would be helpful. We find our young people do so much better once they are nudged into articulating their ideas aloud to an adult.

We are focusing our energy on providing more opportunities to interact with adults and professionals.

Thank you so much for helping us support our students in this awesome opportunity to connect community and school!
